Robert Pereira Hind is a stills photographer, shooting on-set stills for press during the filming of films, TV dramas and commercials. His job is often to set up shots which summarise a narrative sequence in a single image. He aims to bring actors, props, lighting and composition together to create the perfect single moment in a picture. When working in a commercial setting he is valued for his speed, discretion, calmness and ability to get on with cast and crew.
Absorbing himself in the shoot, Robert is looking for those moments when all the elements come together to create the ideal moment that tells the story. His job requires him to be totally focussed, constantly communicating with actors and ADs, encouraging performance that works for a single image. He experiments as he works, keeping things loose as he captures the moment. The technical side of the job is second-nature, so on arrival he assess what’s required, visualising what an image should look like and getting the job done quickly and creatively.
